❓ Can I bring my family to Japan?

Q. I am married and have a family. Can I bring my family with me when I come to Japan?

A. Basically, only the prospective student himself/herself is eligible to apply for the Certificate of Eligibility for Overseas Study. If you must bring your family, please inquire with the person in charge at the school.

If you wish to invite your family after coming to Japan, the basic procedure is as follows.

If you apply as a student at a university, or graduate school in Japan, you can apply for the status of residence of your family as "Family Residence". Please ask to your school after coming to Japan.

If you study at Japanese language school or a vocational school, basically, you cannot apply for the status of residence of your family as "Family Residence".
