Q. I have a name with Chinese characters (Kanji). Can I input my name in Kanji?
A. No , you cannot write your name in Kanji, because the Immigration Bureau in Japan requests the applicants to input in Alphabet on the application. Be sure that it is written in capital letters of the alphabet and it is in the same order and spelling as your passport .
The residence card, which serves as your identification card in Japan and you will receive in the airport on your arrival, can be written in both Chinese characters and alphabetical characters.
After entering Japan, you can apply for the card at the nearest immigration office.
